Weight loss and our relationship to food
I was listening to a podcast this week which was talking about a book titled ‘Accidentally Overweight,’ written by Dr Libby Weaver. I thought what a great title for a book, it had occurred to me long ago that a lot of people feel that they have accidentally become overweight, they didn’t intend to have this body shape and health status, it just crept up on them and now it’s something that must be dealt with or lived with.
I, like Dr Weaver truly believe that there isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ diet approach and that if calorie counting was so effective, we’d all be ‘Slim Jim’s’ by now. The truth is, all of us have a relationship with food that is complicated and confounded by many variables in our past and in our daily lives. Most people who are overweight have become so by accident, People don’t intend to be overweight, it isn’t something people put on their bucket list or decide to be in spite of medical and media advice. Being overweight is far more complicated than just having a big appetite or a weakness for cheese!
If you recognise yourself as a person who has most likely become accidentally overweight, then you might consider enrolling on the WHY DIET programme.
The programme is designed to tackle your relationship with food and to encourage you to make lifestyle changes that can allow you to lose weight and to feel healthy. This approach does not include calorie counting or measuring out food, it isn’t about restriction or deprivation, it is a programme to truly understand how you can work with your body to get the results you want. You will not accidentally get the ideal body shape on the WHY DIET, rather you will proactively achieve your ideal body shape and size if you follow the principles.
