Spring News Letter

March 2024 is definately underway and hopefully we are all springing into spring!

Every year Pilates lovers from around the world join in a monthlong celebration of Pilates. One day at a time, one movement at a time. The movement of March Matness began in 2012 by budding educator Benjamin Degenhardt. The idea is that each day in the month of March is dedicated to one pilates exercise, sometimes two. Anyone can join in and it is free-for-all. There are no rules (this part, I love) this is is about celebrating our practice and the love of Pilates.

Todays move, (4th of March when I wrote this) is the ‘One leg circle.’ So why not have a go at getting into your version of the one leg circle. Click on the link to

I personally love the Teaser exercise, it can be done in lots of different formats and is always a challenge. I’d love to know which is your favourite exercise.

TIPS - Charity Pilates Contribution

As many of you know I am also a psychology teacher, what I love about psychology is how it aims to fundamentally improve people’s lives, this is also why I love Pilates and sharing the practice with you all.

Pilates can support our minds and bodies to be strong and resilient and help us get the most out of life. I have joined forces with a local organisation called TIPS-Trauma Informed Practice Services.

This charity offers people who have suffered trauma, a safe space to
come and experience therapy. Research shows that people who have suffered trauma and other psychological issues can benefit from the practice of Pilates.

I will be hosting an online Pilates session for people who would benefit from the practice of Pilates in the privacy of their own homes. If you’d like to join me and support the charity, then please join me via Zoom and book your space on Eventbrite.

The next session is running on Monday the 11 th of March 6-7pm. The
more the merrier and you’ll be supporting a great charity.

Reformer Pilates

Also, just a reminder that if you’d like to try Reformer Pilates with me you can book a one-to-one session or you can book a session with for 2 people. Come and visit me in my home space.

Christmas Tree

Pilates Christmas News Letter

It’s that time of the year again, Christmas is around the corner and this is always a time to reflect and celebrate the year as it draws to a close.

Whether you have been regularly joining me for Pilates or just dropping in when you have time it has been a pleasure sharing my passion for Pilates with you. I think it’s fair to say that we all recognise the benefits of our Pilates practice, it helps keeps our spine strong, gives us time away from the to-do-list and helps us get stronger, fitter and healthier.

Pilates Benifits

If you are keen to learn more about the benefits of Pilates then I would recommend a great BBC Sounds podcast episode, Michael Mosley, ‘Just one thing, practising Pilates’ the episode is really interesting and confirms just why doing Pilates is so good for us.

I have always loved the variation that Pilates offer us, whether it’s using a foam block, a band or the wonderful ‘Magic Circle’. This year I want to offer you the option of working out with me in my little home studio, using Reformers to add to your Pilates practice. I have 2 Reformers at home and you can book sessions with me via my website.

The benefits of reformer Pilates are immense! The countless benefits include increased core strength, better posture to decreased back and joint pain. Joseph Pilates originally created it by rigging springs to hospital beds, to help rehabilitate internees on the Isle of Man during WWI. The Reformer superpower is achieved through what is essentially a sliding carriage that moves by way of a pulley system, this gives your body a combination of resistance and support. The Reformer uses springs to add varying degrees of tension and resistance to workouts and exercises, which helps to strengthen and lengthen the muscles at the same time. Dare I say it? It is really interesting way to move your body and you know ‘your body loves to move!

I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year either at David Lloyd or in my home studio. Have a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year with your loved ones. I can't wait to see you on the mat or the reformer soon.

Much Love Charlotte xxx
